Experience + Knowledge = Expertise

By focusing our manufacturing efforts, we've refined the art of producing precise can closing tools. Choose from standard seamer tooling to specialty parts designed to improve productivity on the plant floor.

Seamer Tooling

TMl is skilled at producing a variety of seamer tooling—from American-made rolls and chucks to internationally designed can closing tools. Using superior methods of manufacturing, we have our tooling specifications machined to within +/- 0.0001 inch. Throughout our production process, quality inspection checkpoints ensure precise output. With over fifty continuous years in business, our depth of experience and capabilities are extensive.
Range of Sizes
TMI's expertise extends beyond standard seamer tooling made for conventional cans. Our tool and die makers have expert knowledge of tooling production for irregular can sizes, a challenge many manufacturers find difficult to execute.
Selection of Materials
The optimum material for seamer tooling depends on a number of factors—the product being canned, the acidity level of the product, and the type of can used in production. Seamer tooling may be machined from several materials:
  • High Vanadium Stainless Steel
  • 440-C-Stainless Steel
  • Carbon Nitride
  • Wc/C Carbide
Choice of Coatings
Depending on your product, packing condition, and maintenance schedule, a number of surface treatments are available to extend the life of rolls and chucks:
  • Flame Plating (Tungsten Carbide)
  • Titanium Nitride
  • Electroless Hard Nickel
  • D-2 Tool Steel
  • Other Material Available on Request
Variety of Orders
You can count on TMI to undertake jobs that large manufacturers are unable to execute. Our customer list is diverse because we're responsive to the needs and demands of a broad spectrum of canners and fillers. No order is considered too small or too complex. Simply put, we welcome challenges of all shapes and sizes.

Specialty Products from TMI

TMI is more than just a manufacturer of can closing tools. TMI is an innovator and problem solver when it comes to producing superior quality seamer tooling products. Over the years, TMI has developed a patented pin assembly, originated designs for a long-lasting pre-set roll assembly, and supplied the latest advances in bearings and coatings to provide customers worldwide with the most up-to-date seamer tooling technology available today.
Adjustable Pin Seaming Roll
TMI has designed and patented the adjustable pin seaming roll for greater speed in tooling set-up for Angelus 60-L & 61-H type seamers. Time savings can be substantial. Available pre-assembled.
Ceramic Bearing Seaming Roll
Ceramic bearings provide a longer-lasting alternative to stainless steel bearings while using less lubricant. For use with high-speed seamers. Some applications are possible with slow-speed seamers as well.
Interchangeable Profile Roll
For complete flexibility, any seaming roll can be ordered with Angelus, American National, Continental, or Metal Box profiles. Just specify roll type and desired profile.
Double Groove Seaming Roll
For use on any Angelus P-type seamer. Two separate profiles machined onto one roll provide a significantly extended wear life. A pre-set pin eliminates shimming. First and second operation double groove rolls are available pre-assembled.
Eccentric Adjustable Cap Pusher Cam Roll Pin
The offset design of the eccentric adjustable cap pusher cam roll pin is used to obtain greater flexibility for lid-feed adjustment on Angelus P-type seamers.
